More Christmas Inspiration

Another card using the Christmas Star: gold embossing this time!

Making a square card is no problem now with the envelope punch board! In the past if you made a non- standard card, it was impossible to find a nice envelope to match. Wait till you see all the goodies I have made using it: and envelopes are the least of it! I demonstrated the envelope punch board at our training day last week, so I have tons of samples to share with you. And did I mention that I have discovered Pinterest!

Here is a peak at some of the samples:

Check back tomorrow for more details!

Christmas Gift Idea for under $5

Have you seen the new Whittaker mini bars? 3 fit perfectly into this little gift box, and it makes a sweet present. Mine has the milk chocolate Christmas slabs, but you could use a selection of flavours. I was lucky to receive the original from my manager, Rachael Knight, as part of my Christmas present at training day last Saturday. We made this one in a class this week.

The magnetic closure makes it a very neat package, and so easy to do with the word window punch. If you are in the Auckland area, its not too late to get a couple of friends together and I can come and teach this as a private class before Christmas: alternately you could make a time to come to my studio in Pakuranga.

The other project we made in my class this week was a card featuring the Christmas Star single stamp. One of the students was a newbie to stamping and it was great to introduce her to the magic of heat embossing! I know it was one the the things that got me hooked on stamping!

I have used an alternate Christmas colourway here: Coastal Cabana and Smokey Slate with silver embossing, and a touch or Bermuda Bay in the phrase and ribbon... nice and fresh for a New Zealand summer.

Another Sympathy Card

Technical difficulties meant I couldn't upload my sympathy cards yesterday... note to self, do not leave laptop power cable at work!

I did two versions, one with a retired Hostess set phrase, the other with a phrase from Teeny Sentiments. I thinks the phrase is a bit too small for the card: what do you think? I need to get a larger sentiment set I think< what is your favourite?
I am using Summer Silhouettes again with the colour combo of Blushing Bride and Smokey Slate with accents of Black and Baked Brown Sugar

A Difficult Card to Make

Recently a friend joined an unofficial club I belong to, one whose membership just keep increasing... women whose mothers have died.  We all find these cards hard to make, so this time I made 2 designs and made 2 of each. Now there will be some stockpiled for the unfortunate time I need one next.

This is cased from a card I spotted on Pinterest by Diane Cavaness, I have just changed the colours to Smokey Slate with Basic Grey for the stamping. It looks very elegant.

I will post the other design tomorrow.

I hope receiving this card will bring some comfort, and it has brought a reflective time for me too.

Christmas Star to guide the Way

Here I am sharing the Christmas card I made last week... first of the season. I have used non traditional colours from the new In colours, and the Wishing You Stamp. Love the look of the woodgrain embossing folder on white.

And today my box of goodies arrived, with the supplies I need to prep for the Stampin' Up Extravaganza next week! Exciting... and I have a few other goodies for upcoming Christmas card classes, plus.... YES! my Envelope Punch Board! I will share more about that in another post...

Today I want to let you know about Stampin' Up's latest celebration for their 25th anniversary... 25 stamps all 25% off. Included is this magnificent star:

Christmas Star Clear-Mount Stamp Set 134813 only $15.71 until 28 October. As luck would have it, this is one of the stamps that arrived in my package today, and will be featured in my upcoming classes...so contact me now if you want to add it to an order.

Butterfly friendship

Got together with my friend Ann and made a couple of cards with my new goodies... this one is using new In colours from Stampin' Up: Strawberry Slush, Pistachio Pudding and Crisp Cantaloupe with Baked Brown Sugar. (Sounds good enough to eat!) The stamp sets are Papillon Potpourri (with matching punch) and Tiny Sentiments.

I am working on a butterfly themed class in November, plus a couple of Christmas classes... I'll post my first Christmas card tomorrow.

Contact me if you want to be on the mailing list for these new classes!

Spring Butterflies

Stampin Up has put together a great new bundle of butterfly stamps with the bitty butterfly punch. What an inspiring combo!

My stamps are arriving tomorrow and I am planning a class with them for 19 September! It will be celebrating the charm of these ephemeral beauties: fortunately our paper versions can last a little longer.

Contact me if you want to pre-book this class, as spaces at my home studio are limited! Some sneak peaks of the class will be up in the next couple of days! or check out some previous butterfly projects here
